System restore-Question?????

my computers configuration is Windows XP, Intel pentium IV 3GHz, 512mb Ram, 120 GB HD.

my question is:

i have installed Avast home edition Antivirus in my system successfully and after some time i have decided to uninstall the avast. but when i click uninstall a error message has appeared. therfore, i have decided to go to system restore in my system. when the system restore is in process, i suddenly power off the computer (i.e., i have pressed the CPU power button for some seconds, automatically closes the system).

on the next day, i have turn on the computer. the windows XP startup has appeared and 2 warning messages appeared C:\windows\system 32\ has encountered a problem and needs to terminate the program and it is not identifying the windows flag etc.. and after that the system went blank. i have tried several keystrokes, mouse clicks etc... but no use. ... note that i have internet connection also..

is it necessary to format the entire system or only C: drive...

please send the answer immediately...

waiting for ur result soon....

bye.....

System restore-Question?????

If you have windows XP OS CD you may just be fine position to restoring your computer. The are 2 things I will like to know, the first is do you want to loss all your files or do want your files that was inside the hard disk before. If your answer is yes for the second question, then all you have to do is insert your XP CD from the begining, boot your system, through that, (You ofcourse must have changed the booting to be through CD from your BIOS.
