Help identifying Window's application...?

Window's Task Manager identifies an unknown application as LOL. I believe this to be a virus, however, my Avast virus scanner is up-to-date and has not caught this application. Can anyone help me with identification and removal of this application?

You could try using FPORT at a command prompt... this is a little more specific than running netstat -an as if the application is using the internet it will tell you what program and what port.. which might help identify the app...

I don't know if you're using freeware or a proper subscription from reliable vendor like mcafee.. but I do know that things like PuPs sometimes must be configured manually for the application to scan for them. PuP = POTENTIALLY unwanted program.. so this could be a dialer which is not a malicious program in and of itself.. but set up to dial long distance toll pr0n lines it is... also make sure your scanner is automatically updating. Then I would force an update then force a scan.

I would also get Spybot S%26D FROM the vendor's website mirrors... always get programs from the vendor or you risk a trojan... run spybot to ensure it's not adware/spyware etc...

If you don't trust your antivirus then you can go to trendmicro and do a web based scan and removal:

Symantec has this too as do most vendors some will not remove but the link I gave you will it just takes a while and if you are infected it may try to disable..

Good luck.
