was converting to avast...
What would happen if i uninstalled a anti-virus program (avg) with files in the virus vault?nortan
Avg, should ask you if you want to delete the files in the virus vault. If it does not ask you then they are deleted automatic. You can delete them yourself, or they will go with the removal of AVG. They are deleted and no harm to your system.

The "valt" is nothing more than a folder. I would uninstall the program. Reboot the look to see if the "valt" is still there. If the folder is still there, delete it. should be that simple. however, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AV RUNNING all the time though.. I mean if you uninstall a av program, get another one on there asap. I suggest eTrust Antivirus.
Peace.

2 be onest i have no idea but i hope you can get the perfect answer
The program should ask you what you want to do with the files or it should automatically delete them. owever, the best way to go about dealing with the quarantine is to delete them and not leave them in there in the first place.
The purpose of quarantining a file rather than deleting it outright is that the file may be one that you need for windows to run or some other program to run.. and quarantine gives you the opportunity to make a note of what file it is and to replace it if it is necessary...
The quarantine is not meant to just leave stuff in... especially when you are using freeware lol as your protection.
Good Luck
