At my folks house they have a computer.
When I log into MSN Messenger... quite often it will let me chat for a couple of minutes before freezing and then re-booting itself.
It does not do this when my mum or dad log onto the same MSN Messenger.
Why does it only do it to ME? I feel so victimised haha.
The computer has Avast Antivirus.
Computer restarts by itself when I log into Windows Live Messenger...?hijack this
Having Avast Antivirus doesn't mean you don't have any spyware running. Try to get a new antispyware tool (CounterSpy, SpySweeper, SpyBot) and have your pc scanned or do it online:
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html
http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/s...
If these show no results, there might be a bigger problem (faulty driver or even hardware issue)
You say the reboot is triggered by MSNM alone? It doesn't happen anytime else? Try to uninstall MSNM completely (XP-Antispy can help with that) http://xp-antispy.org/index.php?lang=en
Reboot, get the latest version from Microsoft: http://get.live.com/messenger/overview and update your Windows with all the latest patches: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and try again.
If the problem remains, you should reinstall all your main drivers (sound, gfx, network, motherboard)
And if this doesn't help, you have a faulty memory, hard drive, motherboard or the power supply is weak or shaky. But this would show at other times too, not only with MSNM.
