after i downloaded avast antivirus,everytime i start up my pc,internet explorer says that''internet explorer cannot open this file(i think),make sure you typed the right word''something like that..what is this?

I have been a user of Avast for years and NEVER had an issue with them. The wording of the error suggests to me that you might actually have some kind of infection.
Uninstall the program through your control panel. Restart. Go to avast.com and get their latest installer in your language (not another "security" site as they sometimes post bad code). Make sure you run the boot scan.
If you are still stuck, go back to their site and post a lot of SPECIFIC details in their forum. They have GREAT people there non-stop and will answer with clear advice real quick.
