I reinstalled Windows Xp about 2 months ago and it has been running fine untill now. Just today when I woke up I noticed the pc running slow. The CPU was at 100%. I ended up closing out of all tasks possiable that wouldn't harm my pc and it still runs at 100%. In CRTL+ALT+DEL it shows my idle is 90% or so and my processor is still running at 80% to 100%. But when I disconnect from the internet it goes fine. I checked CMD then NETSTAT but i didn't see anything connected. I ran Avast and Spybot and they got nothing. Right when I connect to the internet it starts back up to 100% again. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this and how I might be able to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Win Xp Running At 100% Processor?norton 360
Is the fan going on your computer when its at 100%? If it is then thats your processor working on something 100% and not just some idle process. This might help you troubleshoot later, other than that I am of no help.
